Origin:
Banarasi sarees originate from the city of Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh). These are well known for the Mughal Era inspired designs in golden as well as silver brocade or Zari.
Fabric:
Silk is a natural fibre produced from the cocoons of mulberry silkworm and has a shimmering appearance due to the triangular prism-like structure in the weave.
Ornamentation:
Zari work is known for the art of weaving threads in golden and silver colours. It involves the process of twisting a flattened metallic strip, which sometimes is made from pure gold and silver.
